Conor McGregor’s return to the UFC is highly awaited after three years away from the Octagon, and the Notorious’ forthcoming battle against Michael Chandler has already broken a record.
The 35-year-old Irishman is one of the greatest-known figures in MMA history, and he will battle Chandler at UFC 303.
McGregor has 22 wins in 28 MMA fights, a highly respectable record, and is the former UFC lightweight and featherweight champion.
Of his victories, 19 have been via knockout, one by submission, and two by decision. In terms of defeats, he has six, two via knockout and four via submission.
Since 2021, when he was defeated twice by Dustin Poirier via knockout at UFC 257 and UFC 264, McGregor has not competed in mixed martial arts.
Subsequently, McGregor costarred with actor Jake Gyllenhaal in a reimagining of the 1989 film Road House. He also founded Forged Irish Stout after purchasing a bar in his native Dublin and rebranding it the Black Forge Inn.
However, McGregor is now scheduled to make his Octagon comeback at UFC 303, which is scheduled for June 29 in Las Vegas. The main event of the card is anticipated to be his welterweight matchup with Chandler.
However, as the gate numbers for UFC 303 show, there has evidently not been a decline in the Notorious’ interest despite McGregor’s three-year absence from competition.
Ticket sales crosses this huge amount
According to UFC president Dana White, ticket sales for the forthcoming event have already topped $20 million, making it the most expensive gate in UFC history.
White said: “It’s way over $20 million.”
The UFC has always been able to draw large gate receipts because to McGregor.
Previous UFC events, including UFC 205 and UFC 229, earned $17.7 million and $17.2 million, respectively.
