Sports Desk – Indian tennis player Sasi Kumar Mukund pull out from the upcoming Davis Cup match against Pakistan on Saturday due to injury. Mukund was included in the Indian Davis Cup squad as a reserve player, but due to a leg injury during the tennis tournament in Portugal, he will not be part of the team against Pakistan.
Confirming this, the coach of the Indian Davis Cup team Zeeshan Ali said that it is sad that Shashi will not be able to play in the Davis Cup with the Indian team. Sasi suffered an injury while playing with his partner Purav Raja in Portugal.
India and Pakistan are scheduled to enter the Davis Cup match on 29-30 November in Noor Sultan of Kazakhstan. But before the match, India’s top player Rohan Bopanna has withdrawn from the tournament citing a shoulder injury and now the withdrawal of Mukund has shocked the team. However, India will be relieved that Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi, the top player of the Pakistani team, has also withdrawn from the Davis Cup match.
The team’s non-playing captain Rohit Rajpal has also described Shashi’s withdrawal as tragic. In such a situation, the most experienced Leander Paes will be very strong. Rajpal said about the men’s doubles combination that both Saket Myneni and Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan are doing well in the pairing with Paes.
