Sports Desk – Kenya’s National Olympic Committee has set a huge budget of $6 million for the Olympic Games to be held in Tokyo, Japan in the year 2020.
Kenya has also decided to field a team of about 100 athletes for the Olympic Games to be held from 24 July to 9 August. Kenya had earlier fielded 89 athletes for the last 2016 Rio Olympic Games.
Kenya’s National Olympic Committee President Paul Tergat said he has decided to field athletes in sports and track and field and in many other sports besides boxing. So far 50 Kenyan players have achieved Olympic quota for swimming, athletics, rugby women’s and rugby men’s games.
Tergat said, “Kenya will spend six million dollars in preparations for the Olympic Games while $ 2.5 million will be used for qualification.” Kenya has chosen Kurume City in Japan as it’s player’s training camp and they will arrive there in May so that they can adapt to the weather of Japan.
Kenya won a total of 13 medals, including six gold, six silver and one bronze at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games, which was the most successful year in its Olympic history. She had won all these medals in the track and field category in which her star athlete Rudisha won the 800 meters.
