According to reports in Germany, the current Bayer Leverkusen manager can return to one of his former clubs at any point.
Xabi Alonso, a current coach at Bayer Leverkusen and a former player for Real Madrid, is said to have a reasonable release clause in his contract that would enable him to leave the German club.
He could take the coaching job at one of his former teams, such as Real Madrid, Liverpool, or Bayern Munich, should they express interest next summer. German daily Bild reported this information.
Alonso has emerged as the favorite to succeed Carlo Ancelotti as Real Madrid coach at the end of the 2023-24 season. His outstanding achievement with Bayer Leverkusen, when he led the squad to the Bundesliga title, demonstrates his enormous coaching potential.
While Alvaro Arbeloa and Raul Gonzalez are also considered candidates for the role, Alonso’s name clearly creates more interest. If everything goes as planned, it would not be surprising to see Alonso in charge of Real Madrid next season.
In terms of Klopp replacements, Liverpool fans would be hard-pressed to find a better alternative than a member of the legendary Istanbul side, who is currently proving to be one of the game’s top tactical innovators.

However, timing may be everything, as Real Madrid are more likely to need a manager sooner rather than later, with current manager Carlo Ancelotti all but certain to leave for the Brazil national side job in the summer, while Bayern Munich appear to be in a state of perpetual flux in recent years.
Nonetheless, Alonso is a dedicated Reds fan who claims to have raised his children as Reds fans, so this is a tale to keep an eye on.
