For the upcoming Copa América, Brazil has named a strong 23-man roster that includes Palmeiras star Endrick. However, Dorival Júnior, the coach, has stated that players Casemiro, Richarlison, and Gabriel Jesus would not be playing.
Endrick, who turns 18 in July, is scheduled to sign with Real Madrid soon. Since making his debut for Brazil last year, he has netted two goals in four games. At Wembley, he is the youngest male player to have scored an international goal.
Casemiro and Richarlison’s bad form
Due to his struggles with form and fitness in midfield at Manchester United, Casemiro was not selected. The 32-year-old has 75 caps under his belt.
Richarlison, a forward for Tottenham, was Brazil’s top scorer at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. Unfortunately, Croatia eliminated Brazil in the quarterfinals.
Richarlison was not selected for the Seleçao. This season, in 31 games across all competitions, Richarlison, 27, has 12 goals and 4 assists.
Matheus Cunha of Wolves is another noteworthy absence, while Gabriel Martinelli, Jesus’s fellow Arsenal forward, and João Gomes, his clubmate, are among a sizable contingent of Premier League players in the team.
The following players from England’s top division are Ederson of Manchester City, Alisson of Liverpool, Andreas Pereira of Fulham, Bruno Guimarães of Newcastle, Douglas Luiz of Aston Villa, and Lucas Paquetá of West Ham.
The front line will probably be led by Vinícius Júnior and Rodrygo of Real Madrid, with Raphinha of Barcelona also guaranteed a spot in the lineup.
Éder Militão, a defender for Real Madrid, has also been included despite sustaining an anterior cruciate ligament injury earlier in the year.
Nine-time winners Brazil’s Copa América campaign will begin on June 24 against Costa Rica. On June 28 and July 2, respectively, Paraguay and Colombia will play.
