German professional football player Stefan Ortega Moreno was born on November 6, 1992. His heroic goalkeeping for Manchester City in the current Premier League season has been a topic of interest lately.
After starting his career at TSV Jahn Calden in the north of Hessian, Ortega moved to KSV Baunatal and subsequently KSV Hessen Kassel.
He moved to Arminia Bielefeld in 2007 and joined their youth program. He made six appearances for the B squad in the Regionalliga West during the 2010–11 season.
After a year, the first team called him, and on October 1, 2011, he made his official debut for Arminia by taking Patrick Platins’ place who was injured against 1. FC Heidenheim.
Ortega lost his spot to the Platins following a subpar showing against rivals Preußen Münster; he now plays mostly in the provincial Westfalenpokal.
However, Ortega was a member of the Arminia team that advanced to the Bundesliga 2 at the conclusion of the 2012–13 campaign, and they later decided to extend their contract by another two years.
Ortega signed a free transfer to 1860 Munich in June 2014. He helped his team beat Holstein Kiel 2-1 in the opening round of the 2014–15 DFB–Pokal to make his debut with the Münchner Lions.
After 1860 Munich’s 2016–17 season ended in relegation, Ortega departed the team to take a three-year contract return to Arminia, where he replaced departing player Wolfgang Hes.
Due to transfer interest from Bundesliga team Bayer 04 Leverkusen, Ortega’s contract was extended from January 2020 until June 2022.
Stefan was ranked as the league’s second-best goalkeeper by the German football magazine Kicker. The following season, Arminia Bielefeld was demoted from the Bundesliga.
Rise At Manchester City
Ortega joined Premier League winners Manchester City in July 2022 on a free transfer. He began the season on the bench for City’s FA Community Shield loss to Liverpool on July 30, falling short 1-3.
He made his professional debut for the team in a goalless draw with Borussia Dortmund in the UEFA Champions League. In a 3-0 victory over West Ham United on May 3, Ortega made his Premier League debut.
In the second half of his team’s match against Tottenham Hotspur on May 14, 2024, Ortega came on in place of the injured Ederson.
He made several key saves, including one from Son Heung-min in the 85th minute, which helped his team win 2-0 on the road and maintain their top spot in the league for the 2023–2024 season.
Who is Stefan Ortega’s wife?
Stefan Ortega is married to Sabina. In March, the couple publicly announced their second child. We can see that Sabina enjoys spending time at the seaside from her Instagram postings.
While they wait for another, she frequently shares photos of herself with her husband, family, and child on social media.
Despite dating a well-known person, she has kept her personal life private, therefore not much is known about her. Additionally, she has not revealed anything about her career. But the pair appears to be content with their charming little family.
