When A 1998 Magazine's Prediction On 'David Beckham's Future Look' Turned Out To Be Wrong

DAVID BECKHAM has done well to keep both his riches and his hair after an unpleasant forecast of his future from a football magazine in 1998 went viral.

The amusing Photoshopped image represented how they imagined the Manchester United legend would appear in 2020, complete with lost teeth, thinning grey hair, and extremely aged skin.

“Now well into his forties, he is reduced to appearing for England veterans’ teams alongside his fellow Fergie fledglings and reminiscing wistfully about his glory days.

“Posh Spice, who has ballooned to 20th since her singing career collapsed, now models clothes for ‘the larger lady’.”

And FourFourTwo’s career forecast for Beckham couldn’t have been more off the mark.

“Things went distinctly pear-shaped for the Man Utd starlet after his club missed out on the 1998 championship and he lost his entire personal fortune in the Brylcreem crash of 2005,” the mag said beside the unpleasant image.

The surprising prophecy couldn’t be further from the reality, with Beckham being awarded “The Sexiest Man Alive” by People Magazine in 2015.

The now-46-year-old is also far from broke, having been reported to be worth £339 million alongside wife Victoria for their various business enterprises, with Golden Balls even owning his own MLS side, Inter Miami.

Beckham wasn’t the only one who suffered from the magazine’s late ’90s attempt at computer-generated pictures, as the magazine also attempted to outline a future Steve McManaman.

After falling on hard things, the Liverpool icon should now be rocking a fantastic Albert Einstein look with grey hair and a mustache.

In truth, Macca looks nearly the same as he did in his prime since he works as a pundit for BT Sport.
