Following Bayer Leverkusen’s decisive victory over Bayern Munich on Saturday, Xabi Alonso made a wonderful gesture.
After winning 3-0 at the BayArena, Leverkusen pulled five points clear of second-place Bayern. Alonso’s team has won 17 of their 21 league games this season, and they are still undefeated in the Bundesliga.
Following his loan transfer last summer, Josip Stanisic scored his first goal against his parent club in the eighteenth minute.
In the 50th minute, Alex Grimaldo scored a fantastic goal inside the area to make it 2-0. After Manuel Neuer went up for a corner kick, Jeremie Frimpong scored into an empty net to add a third goal in stoppage time.
Alonso is still a master manager, and his actions after the final whistle won over supporters. The Spaniard made a beautiful gesture by bringing his whole backroom team onto the pitch before accepting an award from the fans present.
Because of his work at Leverkusen, the 42-year-old has been linked to teams like Liverpool, Chelsea, and Real Madrid. He keeps building his resume in anticipation of maybe getting a big job this summer.
