Real Madrid overtook Barcelona and AC Milan with a record-breaking sixth Super Cup victory.
Kylian Mbappe scored a spectacular goal on his Real Madrid debut on Wednesday as the European champion defeated Atalanta 2-0 to win the Super Cup.
After 59 minutes, Federico Valverde gave Real a one-goal lead from close range. Nine minutes later, Mbappe doubled the lead with a shot into the top corner following a cross from Jude Bellingham.
After Mbappe’s goal, Vini Jr. and Rodrygo went to the stands with him to celebrate in his style.
Real Madrid overtook Barcelona and AC Milan, who have each won the yearly match between the Champions League and Europa League winners five times, with a record-breaking sixth Super Cup victory.
“It was a very difficult game,” Carlo Ancelotti told a press conference.
“The second half was much better, we had more space in front and we showed our qualities. In the first half, however, we struggled a lot. Atalanta played really well defensively, and we had difficulty in finding space,” he said.
