Cristiano Ronaldo posted a video on his YouTube account using a well-known phrase from long-time rival Lionel Messi.

Within a day of the channel’s launch, the Portuguese celebrity amassed a staggering 15 million members, shattering the previous record. The channel has 56.7 million subscribers at the moment, largely due to the frequent uploads of video content.

Thus far, Ronaldo has shared videos with his partner Georgina Rodriguez and interviewed with Rio Ferdinand, his former Manchester United teammate.

Ronaldo was seen laughing with his long-term lover in his most recent video, “The 7 questions I always wanted to ask Georgina,” before joking, “Que Miras bobo,” which translates to “what are you looking at, fool?”

The remark is still relevant now because Messi famously uttered it during a contentious argument at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Why did Messi say “Que Miras Bobo”?

After Argentina defeated the Netherlands in a penalty shootout in the quarterfinal, the Inter Miami star went after former Manchester United attacker Wout Weghorst.

It came after a tense game in which referee Antonio Mateu Lahoz gave 17 yellow cards to rival players following many altercations.

Weghorst saved the day for the Netherlands by scoring twice in the last minutes to even the score and force extra time. He did this by coming off the bench.

Messi and company survived the late scare to win a tight penalty shootout, but at the end of the game, tensions flared up once more.

Weghorst, according to Messi, had been taunting him on the pitch for a good portion of the game, and when the Argentine saw the striker, he said, “what are you looking at, fool?”

The video became viral because Messi, who is normally quite reserved, happened to run straight for Weghorst during a live television interview.

After Argentina won the World Cup, we assumed that the incident had been forgotten.
