Sports Desk – On Wednesday, Virgil Van Dijk won the UEFA Men’s Player of the Year award ahead of Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.
2018/19 UEFA’s competition was very tough to watch for all the football fans. But at the same time, some of them were happy to see their lovable clubs winning titles in different aspects.
On August 29, UEFA conducted the draw ceremony for the Champions League and Europa League at Monaco, France. The ceremony was attended by many big stars but in between all of them, two GOATS were watching the other player lifting the UEFA Men’s player of the Year title beside them.
This was a very heartbreaking moment for any of the football fan because watching some other player winning such a big title ahead of them, is not easy. But one of the player from those two won the UEFA Champions League Men’s forward of the Season and that was – Lionel Messi.
Along with that…
- Eden Hazard won the UEFA Europa League Men’s Player of the Season award
- Lucy Bronze won the UEFA Women’s Player of the Year award
- Virgil Van Dijk won UEFA Defender of the Year award
- Alisson Becker won the UEFA Goalkeeper of the Season award
All these players won the titles they deserve but why the hell Cristiano Ronaldo haven’t won any award this year. From all the other things what other players have won, the most surprising one is that Ronaldo has not won any of the UEFA’s honour this year. Even though he is the greatest player in the history of UCL, many of us would say that he was deserved to win at least one title from UEFA. But UEFA’s decision is based on the points that each player get after his performance in each season. So maybe CR7 deserved to win an honour but we can’t ignore the fact that Messi is standing with him in this race.
