Trent Alexander-Arnold’s injury against Arsenal is captured on camera, and the full-back displays his exceptional mindset by playing despite the pain.
At the Emirates, Alexander-Arnold headed the free-kick that resulted in Liverpool’s first goal, but he was hurt with about 20 minutes left.
He appeared to have an issue after a duel with Gabriel Martinelli, which caused him to leave the game briefly. A video of the England international appearing to be uncomfortable has surfaced.
He was seen with a terrible scowl on his face, gripping his knee and even biting his jersey since he was in so much pain.
With Virgil van Dijk out due to illness, Alexander-Arnold took over as captain and demonstrated how much of a leader he was at such a young age by playing on.
Martinelli easily passed him on a few occasions, indicating that he was not moving properly. But he was still able to make an effect on the game, moving into midfield when youngster Conor Bradley came in late in the 2-0 victory.
“First of all, some not-that-good news, Trent hyperextended his knee during the last game,” assistant Pep Ljinders said in his press conference before the Carabao Cup semi-final first leg against Fulham.
“So he has a little tear in the lateral ligament of his knee and he will need time to recover.
“He had a scan and he will be out for a few weeks, so let’s see after that.
“He will get some rest and then hopefully he can come back to where he was. “Because this guy was decisive in all the games and was the one who created constantly for us from deep and gave the team a high level of flexibility. We will really miss him.”
