This article will tell you about the top 10 highest goalscorers in 2023.
Manchester City, Paris Saint-Germain, and Bayern Munich all have players in the top ten goal scorers chart for the calendar year 2023.
With only a few months till the end of the year, the goalscoring statistics are as tight as they’ve ever been, and a few famous names feature on this list.
We tallied every goal scored in world football in 2023, including club and international goals, and generated a list of the top ten scores.
10. Mauro Icardi – 35 goals
Icardi’s resurgence in Turkish football has been a thrill to witness. Following a difficult period with PSG, the Argentine attacker has looked sharper than ever since joining Galatasaray.
Unlike most of the other forwards on this list, Icardi’s 35 goals in 2023 have all come at the club level, as he doesn’t get much of a chance with Argentina’s national team these days. Regardless, he appears to be enjoying life in Turkey right now.
9. Lautaro Martinez – 35 goals
Martinez of Inter Milan is the next Argentine on the list, having scored 35 goals this season. The 26-year-old has been in excellent form this season, leading the race for the Serie A Golden Boot with 13 goals so far.
8. German Cano – 35 goals
While the top scorers’ chart for 2023 is dominated by players now playing in Europe, Fluminense forward Cano breaks that trend.
The veteran 35-year-old has over 280 career goals and shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon. Cano recently reached the pinnacle of his career by helping Fluminense win the Copa Libertadores. Argentina, summon him.
7. Denis Bouanga – 36 goals
LAFC has advanced to the MLS Western Conference finals partly due to the goals of Bouanga. This year, the former Saint-Etienne winger has been unstoppable in MLS, scoring a remarkable 36 goals across all competitions.
We wouldn’t be astonished if he could make the difference in the end.
6. Santiago Gimenez – 37 goals
Gimenez has been on a roll since joining Feyenoord in the summer of 2022. Due to his great goal-scoring record, he has recently been linked with Arsenal and Chelsea.
Gimenez has 37 goals this season, 35 of which have come at the club level, with the other two coming from Mexico. It’s only a matter of time before he gets his hands on a big film.
5. Barnabas Varga – 38 goals
Varga had never scored more than 15 goals in a single season prior to last season. Throughout 2023, however, the Hungarian forward has been more prolific than ever.
Varga dazzled with Paks previous season, earning a move to Hungarian champions Ferencvarosi TC as a result of his prolific play. Verga is only a couple of goals away from the top spot in 2023, with 38 goals so far.
4. Kylian Mbappe – 47 goals
With Lionel Messi and Neymar out of the picture at PSG, Mbappe has taken over as the main man in the French city. The 24-year-old is perhaps the best player in the world right now, having scored 47 goals and provided numerous assists in 2023.
Mbappe has now won five consecutive Ligue 1 Golden Boots and is on course for a sixth. Few defenders can lay a glove on him when he’s at his best.
3. Harry Kane – 49 goals
Kane’s departure from Tottenham this summer appeared to be unavoidable, and the England captain hasn’t looked back since joining Bayern Munich. The 30-year-old has made an immediate impact, scoring 22 goals for the German club.
Kane, in addition to his prolific output at club level, continues to perform on the international scene. Nine of his 49 goals in 2023 came for England, while the other 40 came for a mixture of Tottenham Hotspur and Bayern Munich, where he’s absolutely flying.

2. Erling Haaland – 49 goals
During his first season in the Premier League, the Norwegian robot set numerous goalscoring records and played a key role in the club’s historic treble-winning season.
Haaland has almost no flaws in terms of goal-scoring. So far in 2023, the Man City attacker has 49 goals and counting, tying him with Kane for the lead.
1. Cristiano Ronaldo – 50 goals
He may be playing in Saudi Arabia these days, but the fact that 38-year-old Ronaldo is still second in most goals scored in 2023 is absurd – made even more insane by the fact that he was first until recently.
While most footballers are nearing the end of their careers in their late thirties, CR7 appears to be more hungry than ever.
He takes better care of his body than anyone else in the sport, and it’s no surprise he’s survived the test of time. Sometimes you just have to step back and admire greatness.
