Toni Kroos has once again shown his class by with a beautiful act of support to Manuel Neuer.
When Manuel Neuer took down Jeremie Frimpong 17 minutes into Bayern Munich’s 0-1 DFB-Pokal loss to Bayer Leverkusen on Tuesday night, he was shown his first red card of his career.
Bayern was in a tough spot after the dismissal, and Neuer has subsequently expressed regret for the incident on social media and in post-game interviews.
“That’s tough … Unfortunately I came too late in the situation in which I tried to help. After the red card, it was of course extremely difficult for the boys with one man down, but they really tried everything. I’m sorry,” Neuer wrote on Instagram.
But Toni Kroos, Neuer’s old teammate, doesn’t believe the 38-year-old needs to apologize.
“Stop apologizing,” Kroos wrote in an Instagram comment accompanied by the goat emoji, which stands for the acronym ‘GOAT’, meaning ‘Greatest of All Time’.
The former Germany international also received encouraging words from former Bayern Munich players Giovane Elber and Franck Ribery.
