Barcelona have stepped up in the race for Kylian Mbappe after offering these two players
According to L’Equipe, Ousmane Dembele opted to quit FC Barcelona after learning that the Catalans had offered him to Paris Saint-Germain alongside Gavi as part of a potential swap trade for Kylian Mbappe.
As part of the same Sunday evening report, the French site stated that the winger’s move to the Ligue 1 champions is “imminent” and that the only thing delaying the transaction from being finalized is an agreement on personal terms with the winger.
Dembele should be able to deliver his €50 million release clause to La Liga headquarters before midnight on Monday if he can return from Barcelona’s preseason tour of the United States quickly.
If he fails to reach the deadline, the sum to release Dembele from his Barcelona contract will double to €100 million on August 1, which is still within Qatari-owned PSG’s budget and scarcely a setback.
It is difficult to prove whether Barcelona made such an offer to PSG, which would have resulted in Dembele and Gavi joining Mbappe at Barcelona.
On the same day that Al-Hilal launched a world record €300 million bid for Mbappe, L’Equipe reported that Barcelona and PSG were planning a phone call to discuss a prospective transfer for the striker, who has been put up for sale after failing to extend his contract.
What’s Wrong Between Barcelona And Ousmane Dembele?
According to Mas Que Pelotas, Barcelona is enraged with Dembele’s base, who they believe has been in talks with PSG for days.
Spreading such allegations in the French media about Barcelona using Dembele as a negotiation chip has been interpreted as the 26-year-old wanting to clear up his image so that the Blaugrana does not become a villain in the eyes of their fans.
Dembele’s camp, according to SPORT, does not want to leave through the release clause and instead wants the two clubs to discuss his departure.
However, according to Mas Que Pelotas, the real reason for this is tax concerns, with Dembele and his agent Moussa Sissoko poised to take half the money but likely to lose a significant portion of their share to the fiscal authorities.

As previously reported by various sources, including The Athletic, COPE, and RAC1, there is a growing belief that Dembele will soon join PSG, but no deal has been finalized.
PSG allegedly raised their offer for Dembele on Sunday and are willing to pay him more than cash-strapped Barcelona.
