Mönchengladbach striker Marcus Thuram spit on the face of the opposing player
Borussia Mönchengladbach striker Marcus Thuram has been banned for five matches for spitting on the face of a Hoffenheim’s player during a Bundesliga match.
The German Football Federation said on Monday that the ban would apply in the German Cup and the Bundesliga. Thuram’s ban could be raised, depending on the condition of good behavior till 21 December 2021.
After a debate over the tackle, Thuram spit on the face of defender Stefan Posch. After watching the video in VAR, referee Frank Willenberg sent Thuram off the field and showed Posh a yellow card. Hoffenheim won the match 2–1 on Saturday.
Borussia Mönchengladbach has reached in the round-of-16 of UEFA Champions League. The round-of-6 will be played in February.
