Cole Palmer is expected to make a spectacular summer transfer away from Stamford Bridge, according to William Gallas, should Chelsea fail to win any titles under Enzo Maresca.
With his £40 million transfer from the Etihad to Chelsea, Palmer has already established himself as one of the biggest names in English football.
Palmer made his City debut in 2020, but it wasn’t until the previous season—after moving to Stamford Bridge—that he truly became visible. His productivity and form took off.
In just 41 club games after the transfer, Palmer has already racked up an amazing 28 Premier League goals and 16 assists.
While Palmer has made a name for himself in the league over the past 12 months, the same cannot be truly said for Chelsea, who under Mauricio Pochettino had a very challenging season.
But after some strong showings in the first seven games, Maresca’s team is now fourth in the Premier League standings, so things are starting to look better.
Palmer should make a surprise move out of England, according to former Blues defender William Gallas, if Chelsea’s rising trajectory is broken and Maresca is unable to bring home the hardware.
Which club is interested in signing Cole Palmer?
Gallas asserted in an interview with Prime Casino that Palmer would thrive in Barcelona and leave a lasting impact.
“Barcelona would be a great move for him, but they have great young players already like Lamine Yamal and might also be signing Nico Williams,” Gallas revealed.
The former Arsenal player went on to say that if Chelsea doesn’t develop and get better with the England international, Palmer’s current form might make him too excellent.

“Palmer looks like he is going to have a very similar season to last year and even though he is young, it will be tough to see his friends winning trophies if he isn’t at Chelsea despite the way he is playing. I won’t be surprised if he wants to speak to Chelsea in the summer if they again fail to win a trophy,” he continued.
The duration of Palmer’s contract at the London club may make it difficult for the Catalan giants to pull off a move to Barcelona.
Palmer originally signed a contract that would last until 2031, but because of his excellent play, he received a wage increase and a two-year extension until 2033, so acquiring the 22-year-old would probably require a sizable sum.
Even though the Premier League and the Spanish league are very different in style, Gallas is not worried that the midfield player wouldn’t succeed at Camp Nou.
“He has the ability to go anywhere he wants and be a success because he is a very special player. His quality is completely different to any other English player and he could be a huge success wherever he goes,” Gallas said.
