Kasper Schmeichel (Full Name – Kasper Peter Schmeichel) is a Danish goalkeeper born on 5 November 1986 in Copenhagen, Denmark. His father, Peter Schmeichel, as you all might know, is one of the greatest goalkeepers in football history. His mother’s name is Bente Schmeichel.
Childhood
Kasper’s dad was a goalkeeper, so he chose to follow his father’s footsteps as his career. Due to Manchester United allowing Kasper to train with Peter, he was better at playing football than other kids from an early age.
In the early 2000s, he was enrolled to a football academy called Grupo Desportivo Estoril in Portugal. He left the club 2 years later and went back to England to play for Aston Villa.
Career
Kasper Schmeichel first joined Manchester City in 2002 on a long-term contract. He joined league two side Darlington in 2006 and made his professional first-team debut against Petersborough.
He was loaned out in February, to Bury and made 15 appearances there. Later, he joined the Scottish Premier League in 2006 until the end of the season.
After finishing his loan, he played the first seven games for Manchester City. In September 2007, he signed a new four-year deal with City but was loaned to Championship side Cardiff City.
He also played for Coventry City. During that time, he started playing for Notts County, played for almost a year and secured 2009-10 League two trophies.
On 27 May 2010, he left Notts and joined Leeds United and stood there for almost two years. He was shocked when Leeds announced that they accepted a bid for him from Leicester City.
Finally, in 2011, he was transferred to Leicester City. Since then, Kasper has played 426 games for ‘The Foxes’, conceding 507 goals and marking 137 clean sheets in all competitions.
He kept signing a new long-term contract every season and had a lot of honors there as it’s been mentioned in Schmeichel Honor. It’s been announced that he signed a very new contract with Leicester City until June 2023.
In 2016, he helped Leicester to win their Premier League title. He made 31 appearances for Leicester in 2020-21 season and conceded conceded 44 goals, with 14 clean sheets.
He played 6 games in the Europa League 20/21, conceding 6 goals and marking 3 clean sheets to his name.
In 2020, he finished sixth in IFFHS best goalkeeper list, higher than Keylor Navas and Samir Handanovic.

Personal Life
Kasper Schmeichel and Stone Gyldenbrand dated for 11 years and got married in 2015. Before their marriage, they had their first child – Max Schmeichel in 2012 and a second child Isabella Schmeichel in 2012.
