Cristiano Ronaldo blocked the stats data website Transfermarkt after it downgraded him.
One of the most reputable sources in the game, the German website specializes in offering detailed information about clubs and players worldwide.
Players’ market values fluctuate based on how well they perform for their club and nation on the pitch.
Their system takes age into account, but a few years back, Ronaldo expressed dissatisfaction with his value to Transfermarkt.
The five-time Ballon d’Or winner Cristiano Ronaldo was valued at £67.5 million, down from the £88 million Juventus paid to acquire him from Real Madrid in 2018. At the time, he had scored 21 goals in 21 Serie A games.
He was incredibly dissatisfied with his 37th in the globe, to the point where he blocked them.
Daniel Busch, the UK manager at Transfermarkt, gave The Athletic an explanation of the circumstances and highlighted how petty Ronaldo had been.
Busch said: “I think we put a list (on Instagram) with 10 players, 33 and older, and he (Ronaldo) was still in first place, but he said he must be worth much more.
“He sent a message first to our social media guys. They answered him, explained why, and told him, ‘The people in your own age group, you are by far the number one’.
“I think it was £30-50 million difference (between Ronaldo and the next player on the list), and then he sent some smilies, and then he blocked us.”

Ronaldo isn’t the only person who has had problems with Transfermarkt; Fenerbahce, a Turkish team, has sued the website, claiming it was “negatively manipulating” the players’ worth.
Ronaldo’s market value is at only €15 million, a significant decrease from his 2014 peak of €120 million.
