Superstar Shakira of Colombia will once again compose the music for soccer, just as she did for the World Cups in Germany in 2006 and South Africa in 2010.
This year, she chose to play a song from her most recent album, “Las mujeres ya no lloran,” as a duet with Cardi B for the 2024 Copa America. The song is called “Puntería.”
And for the sole reason that everything in soccer is aim—passing, shooting, saving, and approaching the goal—precision is vital—this music was selected at the very end. Shakira is once again using her talents to support the world’s most popular sport.
‘Puntería’ is a successor to ‘Waka Waka’
Every soccer fan will be singing ‘Puntería’ in practically a month, from June 20 to July 14. The Colombian musician made this announcement in New York City on Tuesday afternoon, accompanied by Ignacio Meyer, president of Univision Networks Group.
A video including several shots of the Colombian singer’s voice was also released, along with the introduction of the song and its modification to become the logo and theme song of the official tournament broadcaster. The singer is still captivating the world of balls with her voice.
