Man United have just recently begun to address contract extensions for players whose contracts expire in the summer.

Raphael Varane believes he is being forced out of Manchester United after the club decided not to renew his contract for another year.

Varane, 30, is now free to negotiate a pre-contract agreement with other clubs, and it is said he is indecisive about accepting a lower wage at United if a new contract is drafted.

The former Real Madrid defender is also said to be dissatisfied with United’s lack of continuity this season.

United activated a one-year contract extension for fellow centre half Victor Lindelof, who is only 16 months younger than Varane but is seen to have higher resale value.

Varane had hoped that United would exercise his one-year contract option because he does not want to leave the club this month. United insists that no players will be released.

Varane, on the other hand, has missed seven games this season due to five different injuries and illnesses. In total, he has been forced to miss 38 United games out of a possible 138.

Varane’s contract paperwork had to be redone when an error was discovered during his medical in August 2021. When Varane was unveiled, United nevertheless publicised the incorrect expiry date of his contract.

Varane was instrumental in United’s recovery in the 2022-23 season since his recall coincided with the club’s first win under manager Erik ten Hag against Liverpool. Varane started in only five of United’s 27 games.

According to club insiders, Jadon Sancho is still expected to report for training at Manchester United’s Carrington training complex. Sancho is expected to quit Manchester United this month after being kicked off the first team squad over four months ago.
