According to a recent claim, Paris Saint-Germain is prepared to spend £140 million to acquire Arsenal player Bukayo Saka in order to replace Kylian Mbappe.
When Mbappe’s contract expires this summer, the French powerhouses will have to start planning for life without him.
Although it was rumoured that attempts to persuade the France captain to stay at PSG were not on the agenda, he was spotted at a meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron last month.
Mbappe has been strongly linked to a free transfer to Real Madrid, although neither team has confirmed that a deal is close to being signed.
The 24-year-old has reportedly discussed his possible life in Madrid should he join the team on a regular basis with two former Real players, Los Blancos icon Sergio Ramos and his current PSG teammate Achraf Hakimi, according to Spanish publication Marca.
Having brought in French talent in Ousmane Dembele, Randal Kolo Muani, and Nordi Mukiele all last summer, PSG has started to implement a transfer philosophy focused on bringing in talent from abroad.
Warren Zaire-Emery and Bradley Barcola, two other young players from the area, are also contributing significantly to the team. Saka, an Arsenal player, is PSG’s top target to succeed Mbappe, but they are still searching for quality in Europe.
PSG is reportedly prepared to submit a proposal of at least €140 million, which would set a club record for the 22-year-old winger’s sale to Arsenal.
According to the report, Saka’s departure would inevitably make Arsenal “reluctant,” especially since it would force Mikel Arteta’s team to find a suitable successor in the summer transfer window.
