Premier League has registered Cristiano Ronaldo as number 7 on their official website
Manchester United has officially announced Cristiano Ronaldo after he completed his medicals on Monday. Fans call it the ‘greatest comeback in football history’.
Meanwhile, Premier League’s official website has registered Ronaldo as number 7. However, Edinson Cavani is the current holder of these digits before him.
“When I arrived at United, I asked for 28 but the coach said, ‘No, you will wear 7,’” said Ronaldo via The Mirror.
“I was petrified as I knew Beckham wore that shirt. But I took on the challenge and since then it has been my lucky number. I have won everything in football with the shirt.”
We will see if Ronaldo gets his legendary number or have to wear some other jersey for his season. So what jersey numbers are available to him if PL doesn’t allow him to wear the number 7?
According to rumours, the 36-year old will have:
- The number 28 which he himself asked for when he first came to United.
- The number 9 which he wore during his first stint with Real Madrid.
Cavani is in direct contact with Barcelona for his transfer. If he sign for the Catalans, Ronaldo will surely have his number 7 without a question.
