According to rumours, PSG striker Neymar is considering a summer return to La Liga giants FC Barcelona
Neymar’s desire to leave Paris Saint-Germain this summer appears to be becoming public knowledge. The return of the Brazilian superstar to Barcelona is now being discussed.
While Neymar seemed eager to return to Camp Nou, Barcelona authorities are skeptical about bringing the 31-year-old back. According to ESPN, some sources have indicated that there is now an internal discussion at Barcelona regarding Neymar’s signing.
According to the reports, Barcelona coach Xavi Hernandez is among those opposed to re-signing the PSG forward. The Spaniard believes Neymar will not fit in with the current Barcelona squad.
“Ah… Surprise… That’s a surprise. Look I appreciate Neymar as a person, as a player, as a friend, he’s a great player, but he’s not in our plans no,” Xavi remarked in June.
However, Neymar’s father has denied reports that his son intends to leave PSG this summer. “Neymar’s father asked about request to leave Paris Saint-Germain this summer: ‘I can not confirm a news that did not happen,’ told PL Brasil,” tweeted Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, who carefully follows the football transfer market.
Despite Xavi’s lack of enthusiasm, Barcelona team management has not ruled out Neymar’s much-touted comeback this summer. However, the club authorities believe that re-signing Neymar will be financially tough.
With only six days till the start of the new season, Barcelona is yet to register any new signings or players who have recently renewed their contracts with the Spanish club. Barcelona will face Getafe on Sunday, and the Catalan club will have 13 players available for the season opening.
According to sources close to PSG, no conversations have yet taken place regarding Neymar’s probable summer transfer to Spain. The French giants are said to be eager to let go of their star player ahead of the next season.
PSG will allegedly demand a permanent agreement for Neymar, but they may be willing to negotiate an initial loan arrangement. Neymar has a contract with PSG until 2025.
In 2017, PSG paid £222 million to sign Neymar from Barcelona in a world record move. Neymar departed Barcelona after scoring over 100 goals in four seasons.

He won the Ligue 1 title five times in France but failed to win the Champions League with PSG. The Brazilian has till now scored 118 goals in 173 appearances for PSG.
For the Parisians, the current summer transfer window has been chaotic. They’ve already had to deal with the loss of Lionel Messi. Furthermore, PSG has been unable to extend the contract of another top player, Kylian Mbappe.
According to multiple sources, Real Madrid has already finalized an agreement with the Frenchman. When Mbappe’s contract expires, the Spanish club will formally sign him.
