Barcelona star has contributed 51 goals and 22 assists in just 50 games in his joyful season. Winning his second successive La Liga title, scoring 36 goals and 15 assists in 34 games.
But despite that record and the Golden Shoe, he misses out making the best XI in Europe’s top 5 leagues. The position settled by Messi is covered by Lille’s Nicolas Pepe and Cristiano Ronaldo of Juventus.
Ronaldo has done only 21 goals and 11 assists in 31 league appearances, winning the Serie A Player of the Year award contributing much to his team with that of a hat-trick coming against Atletico Madrid to win the match.
