According to reports, Manchester United has been offered the opportunity to unload Marcus Rashford in January through a trade deal that would bring Barcelona forward Ansu Fati to Old Trafford.
The most recent sources state that Barcelona’s management is very interested in Rashford and intends to try to bring him to Catalonia by using Fati. Hansi Flick “gave the OK” after Barca asked him for his thoughts on the potential transfer.
Rashford can provide “more versatility and effectiveness to the Barca attack,” according to Flick, which is why sports director Deco has started “working” on a deal with Manchester United.
How will Marcus Rashford join Barcelona?
According to sources from the Spanish press, which Football365 has referenced, Barca would find it “ideal” to acquire Rashford in order to strengthen a crucial left-wing position. Although Fati shares the Englishman’s role, this season he “has not convinced” Flick. His inconsistent play has, in fact, “cast doubt on his future [at Barca].”
Rashford would reportedly “fit perfectly in his system” and create a fantastic attacking tandem with players like Robert Lewandowski, Raphinha, and Lamine Yamal, according to Flick.
Since Old Trafford “could be the perfect destination” for Fati to “regain confidence and show his potential,” he has been predicted to rekindle his career at United. However, the reports do mention that Barca will face difficult discussions.
Rashford is still significantly more valuable than Fati, even though he hasn’t been playing well lately and was dropped by Ruben Amorim. Furthermore, even though Fati is only 22 years old, United’s recruitment chiefs may believe it is too late to sign him at this point.
When the attacker first emerged on the scene in La Liga, United was frequently mentioned in connection with him. However, Fati’s poor injury record over the past few years has caused him to drop in the hierarchy at Barcelona.
In an effort to restart his development, the young player spent the previous season on loan with Brighton & Hove Albion. However, in 27 games while playing for the Seagulls, Fati only managed four goals and one assist, so he did not live up to the anticipation.
To replace Rashford, United could be better off pursuing forwards like Nico Williams, Kenan Yildiz, or Matheus Cunha.
