Manchester United are pursuing Barcelona’s star defender Ronald Araujo
According to El Nacional, FC Barcelona has received a significant bid from Manchester United for one of their star defenders.
Detractors criticized the Catalans last summer when they signed Andreas Christensen on a free transfer after his Chelsea contract ended.
However, Christensen quickly became a lynchpin in Europe’s strongest defense, helping goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen keep a joint-record 26 clean sheets as Barcelona surged to their first La Liga title in four years.
His primary partnership with Ronald Araujo was so strong that big-money signing Jules Kounde had to step in right back.
However, as El Nacional claimed this weekend, the partnership might be torn up as Kounde moves into the center of the defense – but only if Premier League giants Manchester United have their way.

The Catalan publication reports that the Mancunians have made an offer of €35 million plus €15 million for the 27-year-old.
While losing Christensen would be a significant setback for Xavi, who has frequently praised his charge in public, Barcelona would consider selling him for such a low fee given their difficulty crossing Financial Fair Play rules.
The Blaugrana are now battling to sign new players and renew old stars’ contracts, and would prefer to bring in new faces such as Bernardo Silva if possible.
Expected sales of Ousmane Dembele and Franck Kessie will help in these endeavors, and so would Christensen leaving for a total of €50 million in the near future.
