According to reports, Manchester United wants to sign a gifted forward from the Arsenal youth this summer.
Erik ten Hag hasn’t wasted any time in the summer transfer market, having signed Joshua Zirkzee and Leny Yoro this month alone.
On July 14, Manchester United announced that they had signed Zirkzee, a forward from the Netherlands, for an alleged £35 million. Five days later, the team reportedly paid £52.18 million to recruit 18-year-old French defender Leny Yoro from Lille.
And it appears that United may make their third summer acquisition shortly, as they are investigating a deal to sign promising academy product Chido Obi-Martin.
The 16-year-old has played for the Arsenal academy, but he is now free to negotiate with other clubs as his contract with the London team recently expired.
Obi-Martin was offered a scholarship by the Gunners, who were eager to keep him on the team, but the teenager decided he wanted to move on after receiving what they considered a “fair offer.”
Furthermore, according to The Athletic, United has spoken with the wonderkid in an effort to strengthen both their first team and academy.
Obi-Martin’s inspiring journey
The Danish striker came to Carrington for the “early stage” talks, but he is still evaluating offers from elite teams, notably Manchester City, who are local rivals and keen to recruit him.
After leaving Danish club KB in 2022, Obi-Martin joined Arsenal and made an immediate impression in the London academy. When he scored an amazing ten goals in the Under 16s’ 14-3 triumph over Liverpool last year, he instantly made headlines.
He was promoted to the Under-18s as a result of his performance at the U16 level, where he showed no signs of slowing down after scoring four goals against Crystal Palace and Fulham.

He scored seven goals against Norwich City and five against West Ham United later in the season. He scored 29 goals for Arsenal’s under-18 team in 17 games overall.
With two goals in three group-stage matches, Obi-Martin represented Denmark internationally in the 2024 UEFA European Under-17 Championship qualification campaign.
