Liverpool’s chances of securing PSG starlet Kylian Mbappe have suffered a knock.

Mbappe has been heavily linked with a move away from the Parc des Princes club in recent seasons.

However, in 2022, the Frenchman made a last-minute decision to reject a move to Spanish La Liga club Real Madrid and instead signed a new contract with PSG.

Earlier this month, it was claimed that Liverpool had emerged as the most credible and threatening candidate for Mbappe’s future at PSG.

However, Liverpool’s prospects of landing Mbappe have dwindled in recent days. This is because Mbappe was observed conversing with David Beckham at PSG’s Camp des Loges training facility.

The Englishman was in Paris for the NBA event and saw the facilities of his former club. Although the specifics of the chat are unknown, Beckham, a former Real Madrid and Manchester United player, could have persuaded Mbappe to reject Liverpool.

After winning the French Super Cup, the PSG player spoke about his future last week.

Mbappe said: “First of all, I am very, very, very motivated for this year. It is very important. As I said, we have titles to chase and we’ve already won one, so that’s already done. After that, no, I haven’t made a decision yet.

“In any case, with the agreement I made with the president this summer, it does not matter what he decides. We manage to protect all parties and preserve the serenity of the club for the challenges that lie ahead, which continues to be the most important thing.”

He continued: “So we’ll say it’s secondary. I think it was at the end of May 2022 because I didn’t know until May. But if I know what I want to do, why drag it out? It just doesn’t make sense.”

Liverpool may have a significant financial dilemma if they decide to sign Mbappe, aside from his desires.

According to earlier reports, Mbappe presently earns €75 million a year, significantly more than Liverpool’s pay scale.
