According to rumours circulating in Spain, Liverpool has already decided on their long-term replacement for Alisson Becker and intends to sign him this summer.
Alisson, who originally joined Liverpool in a £67 million transfer from Roma in 2018, is maybe the best addition made by the team during the FSG era.
Alisson has made 263 appearances for Liverpool since taking over for Loris Karius as the starting goalkeeper, recording 114 clean sheets during that time.
In the 2020–21 season, the Brazil international headed in a thrilling winner against West Brom to assist the team in securing Champions League football for the upcoming campaign. It was one of the player’s most significant goals for the Reds.
He was crucial to Liverpool’s triumph in the Premier League, Champions League, Club World Cup, FA Cup, and League Cup under previous manager Jurgen Klopp.
Alisson, 31, still has three years left on his current Anfield contract, although he has been linked to a move abroad. Al Nassr, a Saudi club, is reportedly one of the suitors for the goalie.
Liverpool is not in a hurry to replace Alisson, who they rightly consider to be a club legend, but it appears that they are planning for life beyond the Brazilian.
Who is Alisson’s replacement?
The Premier League club is reportedly planning to bid on Valencia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili, according to Spanish publication Relevo, since they see him as a long-term alternative for Alisson.
At the last European Championship in Germany, Mamardashvili made an impression for Georgia, when his team advanced to the round of 16 before losing to eventual victors Spain.
Relevo claims that Liverpool intends to make a bid of €30 million (£26 million) for the custodian.
If Alisson decides to go on at that time, it is rumoured that Liverpool will sign the Georgian this summer and loan him to another Premier League team for a season before bringing him back for the 2025–2026 campaign.
Mamardashvili could be loaned to Bournemouth by Liverpool in order to keep him active and aid in his adjustment to English football.
According to the report, Valencia would accept a deal that is in line with their assessment of €35 million (£30 million) for the custodian.
If Liverpool placed a bid for Mamardashvili, it would cast further doubt on Caoimhin Kelleher, the team’s current No. 2.

After making an impression in Liverpool’s cup tournaments, the Irishman has made no secret of his desire for regular first-team play and has already acknowledged he could have to leave the squad this summer.
“It would be great if that happened at Liverpool, but I’m not silly,” Kelleher told The Athletic.
“I know that Ali has been the best goalkeeper in the world for years.
“I’ve had such an amazing time at Liverpool. It’s been a crazy journey for me and one that I’ve absolutely loved. I love the club, I love the fans and I have a great relationship with the players and the staff.
“Whether it’s here at Liverpool or somewhere else, I do feel the next step for me is to be a No 1.”
