After witnessing what Trent Alexander-Arnold did while on vacation during the summer, Liverpool supporters are expecting the worst.

Alexander-Arnold, 25, is taking advantage of a well-earned vacation after assisting England in qualifying for this summer’s Euro 2024 final in Germany.

He has not yet joined the Liverpool team, which defeated Real Betis 1-0 in their first preseason encounter on Saturday in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

The club is now in negotiations with Alexander-Arnold on a new, long-term contract, although there has been a great deal of speculation regarding the defender’s future.

Due to interest from Real Madrid, his current contract is set to expire at the conclusion of the 2024–2025 season, and Liverpool is keen for him to commit to the team for the long term.

According to The Sun, Liverpool is preparing a “monstrous” contract offer to keep him from joining the Bernabeu, making him one of the club’s highest earners.

Even if talks over a new contract are reportedly going well, Liverpool supporters will still be anxious until the contract is finalized and made public by the team.

Why are Liverpool fans worried?

Due to the fact that Jude Bellingham, the star player for Real Madrid, and Alexander-Arnold are from England, there have been rumours on social media that the midfielder has tried to persuade Trent to go to Spain.

And those concerns were heightened when, on Saturday, a photo of Alexander-Arnold signing a Real Madrid shirt for a young fan appeared on social media, ostensibly while he was on vacation in the US.

According to The Sun, Alexander-Arnold appears to be staying at Anfield, at least for the time being, having already had fruitful conversations with his incoming head coach Arne Slot.

A source connected to the club told the newspaper: “Trent’s spoken to the new manager already. This took place before the Euros and they’re in touch now.

“They had a great conversation initially but the manager respected that he needed to focus on the tournament.

“Trent, like the rest of the squad, sees this as a new beginning and a fresh start and he is excited to get back to training to lay the foundations for a successful, new season.

“He is definitely committed for the season and a huge deal will be presented to him to stay beyond that.”
