During a recent preseason game, Lionel Messi, a star for Inter Miami, appeared to make fun of Mexico’s World Cup record.
Messi and company played Mexican team Club America on Saturday night at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. The 37-year-old scored in Inter Miami’s victory. Even though the score was 2-2, Javier Mascherano’s team prevailed on penalties as they began to get ready for the 2025 Major League Soccer season, which is scheduled to begin on February 22.
Messi’s alleged trolling after he equalized for Inter Miami after Henry Martin’s opening goal for Club America, however, was one of the main talking points from the preseason friendly.
After helping Messi, the renowned forward wheeled away to celebrate with Luis Suarez before heading home from close range. The Argentine, who endured jeers during the match in Las Vegas, turned to face the jeering crowd and gestured to his name on the back of his shirt as he celebrated his score.
After giving himself a pat on the chest, he raised three fingers in the air, which some people think was intended to symbolise Argentina’s three World Cup victories, the most recent of which occurred in 2022 when Messi assisted his country in defeating France in Qatar.
