Lionel Messi has been one of the best players this season and here’s why
PSG are in a serious form this season, all thanks to their attacking trio of Lionel Messi, Neymar and Kylian Mbappe popularly known as MNM.
In fact, 40 of PSG’s 50 goals this season have come from these three players alone:
- Kylian Mbappe – 17 goals, 4 assists
- Neymar – 14 goals, 10 assists
- Lionel Messi – 12 goals, 14 assists
The 7 times Ballon dÓr winner is the first player in Europe’s top five leagues to reach double-digit figures in goals (11) and assist (12) in all competitions this season. He is also the oldest player in Champions League history to score twice and assist twice in a game.
Last season, Messi faced a lot of difficulties with his teammates even with Neymar and Mbappe. At the end of the season, he made a statement which read as follows:
“Next season will be way better for me with Paris Saint-Germain, I’m sure. It was not easy after that crazy summer. It was really difficult to understand what happened, I wasn’t expecting to leave Barcelona – it was a shock,”
