Now that he has made 30 appearances for Real Madrid, how does Kylian Mbappe’s record stack up against Cristiano Ronaldo’s after as many games?
It’s no secret that Mbappe looked up to Ronaldo as a child, and even though the Frenchman is already regarded as one of the greatest football players in the world, he will have difficulty matching CR7’s reputation in Spain.
In the summer of 2009, the Portuguese superstar made his historic move to Madrid, and he quickly adjusted to the new environment. Even though Ronaldo scored 33 goals in all competitions during his rookie campaign, Real Madrid did not win any trophies in 2009–10.
Even though he missed seven weeks of play due to injury that season, CR7 was still the team’s leading scorer at the end of the campaign.
During his first year in Spain, he also scored from six direct free kicks and averaged a goal or assist per 75.1 minutes, which is really impressive.
With Madrid having already won the FIFA Intercontinental Cup and the UEFA Super Cup, Mbappe has already taken home two trophies. In May, we wouldn’t be shocked if he added a couple more to his collection.
Even though Real Madrid has already taken home some hardware this season, Madrid supporters believe they haven’t seen the best of Mbappe, frequently selected by UK football betting services.
After missing penalties against Athletic Club and Liverpool, his confidence appeared to suffer; however, he has since found his form again, scoring seven goals in his previous nine games.
“I don’t feel the pressure,” Mbappe said after scoring his first league goal for the club in September.
“I don’t think about Cristiano, with all due respect to him. Cristiano is my idol, yes. But no, I don’t want to follow anything.
“I don’t want that pressure. I want to be Kylian. I only have the pressure of having to adapt to the team.”
