During his formal Real Madrid introduction, Kylian Mbappe channeled his inner Cristiano Ronaldo by imitating the player.
The news that French sensation Kylian Mbappe will be joining Real Madrid instead of Paris Saint-Germain was eventually confirmed last month, after weeks of speculation.
Back then, the 25-year-old wrote on social media: “Nobody can understand how excited I am right now. Can’t wait to see you, Madridistas, and thanks for your unbelievable support. Hala Madrid!”
After passing his medical examinations on Tuesday afternoon, Mbappe was at last unveiled in front of Madrid supporters at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium.
Mbappe was seen mimicking what Ronaldo had done when the Portuguese team was first presented towards the end of his presentation.
Mbappe said: “One, two, three. Hala Madrid,” in the same way as Ronaldo did back in 2009.
Mbappe also said: “My family are so happy. I can see my mum crying. It’s an incredible day for me. I’ve dreamed about this day since I was a kid. Being here today means a lot to me.
“Now I have another dream – and that’s the dream of living up to this club’s history and Madridistas’ expectations. I can promise that I will give my all for the club and this badge.”
He continued: “I’d also like a send a message to all the kids here today. I was once like you. If you have the passion, you’ll achieve your dreams.
“I’m very excited and emotional. The fact that I’m talking so much means that it’s very important for me to be here today. This is the club of my dreams and the biggest club in the history of world football.”
Mbappe will wear the number nine shirt for Madrid in the upcoming season.
