One of the most coveted honors a football player can have is the Ballon d’Or. Every year, the trophy is given to the player who, in the opinion of 100 journalists worldwide, performed the best throughout the previous campaign.

Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo have dominated this important trophy for the past 15 years; recent winners include Karim Benzema and Luka Modrić.

Although a player’s season-long performance is a major factor in the final result, team success is also thought to be equally significant.

Carlo Ancelotti therefore thinks Toni Kroos has a chance to be named the world’s best player.

Real Madrid has already guaranteed that they will win the Spanish championship at the end of the current campaign, and they are just a few weeks away from facing Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League final.

Many of Los Blancos’ players would be in the running for the Ballon d’Or if they defeat BvB at Wembley.

Speaking following Real Madrid’s victory over Alavés over the weekend, the Italian said that the winner of the prize might be determined by EURO 2024: “Anything can happen. There are important competitions in the summer. Kroos, with Germany, has the chance to win the European Championship and do the double with the Champions League, including the league. So why not? He can fight to win it.”

Therefore, Kroos might be in the lead to win the Ballon d’Or if Germany were to raise the trophy on July 14. But it’s crucial to realize that guys like Vinicius Junior and Jude Bellingham have a good chance of challenging Kroos for the award.
