Sports Desk – India suffered a disappointing performance in recent matches in the World Cup qualifiers with a two-place loss in the latest FIFA rankings released on Thursday.
India had lost 0–1 to Oman after drawing 1–1 with Bangladesh and 1–1 to Afghanistan in their last three matches in the 2022 World Cup qualifier round in Qatar. India lost two places and slipped from 106th to 108th.
The Blue Tigers ended 2018 with the 97th ranking, but since then its ranking has dropped by 11 places. Oman, who defeated India, has gained three places and reached number 81. Afghanistan retained its 149th position while Bangladesh slipped three places to 187th.
There is no change in the top five places in the FIFA rankings. Belgium remains first, France second, Brazil third, England fourth and Uruguay fifth.
