Sumati Kumari of Londra village in Gumla was selected for Senior National Asian Football Cup championships.
The 17-year-old Sumati Kumari, the best footballer from Jharkhand’s extremism-affected and backward district Gumla, has been selected for the Senior National Asian Football Cup to be held in 2022. Sumati plays as a Striker. In view of Sumati’s superior playing talent, the Indian Football Association has selected Sumati for the Senior National Asian Cup.
Let us tell you that Sumati is originally from Londra village of Bharno block under Gumla district. Sumati’s father Firu Oraon and mother Saniyaro Devi are farmers by profession. Sumati is the youngest among a total of 6 siblings. Sumati, who has been interested in playing football since childhood, has now become a national level football player after starting her game from the village.
In recent years, Sumati has shown her sports performance in Bhutan, Hongkong and Turkey in the under-15 category in the SAIF game at the international level. In three countries, Sumati has scored three, two and two scores (goals) respectively. Considering Sumati’s talent, the Indian Football Association selected Sumati for the Senior National Asian Cup to be held in 2022. Now Sumati will take training in Goa’s training center for about one and a half months. At the center, Sumati will be made aware of the various nuances of the football game, so that in the Senior National Asian Cup, Sumati can show her game even better.
Interested in playing football since childhood: Sumati Kumari
Here, after being selected for Senior National Asian Cup, while talking to Prabhat Khabar, Sumati said that she have been interested in playing football since childhood. The village lacked resources. Despite this, she continued to practice sports. After this she reached Gumla to study. Enrolled in St. Patriotic High School in Gumla.
Used to practice sports regularly in school too. Given this, she was selected in the residential football training center operated in the school itself. The center started learning the nuances of the football game. After performing better in the game, she was selected for the district level football competition.
The state level football competition was followed by better performance at the district level. After this there was an opportunity to play at the international level as well. Sumati said that she is now happy for her selection for the Senior National Asian Cup by the Indian Football Association.
At the same time, Sumati’s coach Veena Careketta (NIS) said that a total of 30 women football players have been selected from all over the country for the Senior National Asian Cup. In which Sumati Kumari of Gumla has been selected as the only player from Jharkhand. It is a matter of happiness not only for Gumla district, but for the entire Jharkhand state. Now Sumati will take training in Goa’s training center from 16 January to 21 February.
