Antoine Griezmann has chosen the player who should win the Ballon d’Or and it’s neither Lionel Messi nor Erling Haaland
During the previous La Liga season, Griezmann had the most goal involvement.
With the Ballon d’Or being one of the most talked-about topics in football, French forward Antoine Griezmann decided to provide some clarity with a humorous comment.
“Me,” is the answer. “I think I’ll win.” Griezmann had the most goal involvements in the previous La Liga season, scoring 15 goals and contributing 17 assists in 38 games.
Who Will Win The 2023 Ballon d’Or ?
During a recent press conference, reporters questioned Griezmann who he believed would win the season’s top individual award: Haaland or Messi?
The Atletico Madrid forward’s reply was funny, reminding reporters that he, too, had been nominated for the honor. Griezmann did praise Haaland’s heroics for Manchester City last season.
He, on the other hand, believed Messi and Mbappe’s performance in the 2022 FIFA World Cup would keep them ahead of the Norwegian star in the Ballon d’Or race. “If not me, then Messi or Mbappé. Haaland had a great season, but it’s a World Cup year, you know?”
Griezmann had a fantastic year for both his country and his club. During the French World Cup campaign in Qatar, he was seen playing a different role in the French forward line.
Apart from supporting the other forwards, Griezmann was spotted on multiple times dropping back to the midfield to take on defensive responsibilities. Despite a commendable showing, the 32-year-old failed to score a single goal in the prestigious competition.
Griezzman also performed admirably throughout the 2022-23 La Liga season, assisting Atletico Madrid to a third-place finish. He had the most goal involvements in the season, scoring 15 goals and contributing 17 assists in 38 league games.

Many expect Messi to win his record-extending eighth Ballon d’Or this year after leading Argentina to a World Cup triumph last December, ending a 28-year wait.
In seven games in Qatar, the Argentine captain scored seven goals and provided three assists. In the Ballon d’Or race, he is likely to face heavy competition from Haaland.
Last season, the Premier League hero scored 52 goals in 53 appearances, leading Manchester City to a historic treble.
On September 6, France Football magazine published a list of footballers shortlisted for the prestigious award. The winner of the Ballon d’Or will be announced on October 30 at a glittering ceremony at Paris’s Theatre du Chatelet.
