Argentina midfielder thinks that Kylian Mbappe can emulate Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi this decade

Argentina and Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez has revealed who he believes can follow in the footsteps of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo this decade.

Fernandez was speaking with journalist Rodrigo Lara when he was asked who ranked third behind Messi and Ronaldo. The midfielder paused briefly before responding with flowers to France’s Kylian Mbappe.

Lara: “Name me three best football players you think will be the best in this new decade after what Messi and Ronaldo did?”

Enzo: “It’s very hard to say it, but I think Kylian Mbappe is that type of player.”

Argentina defeated France 4-2 on penalties following a thrilling 3-3 stalemate after extra time in the 2022 FIFA World Cup final between Fernandez and Kylian Mbappe.

Mbappe’s amazing hat-trick kept France in the game, but Lionel Messi’s brace and Angel Di Maria’s strike put La Albiceleste in a good position.

Kylian Mbappe

The French international, who is only 24 years old, has already won the World Cup (2018) and many Ligue 1 titles with Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) and AS Monaco.

He was one of Europe’s most prolific scorers last season, with 41 goals and 10 assists in 43 appearances across competitions. In seven games this season, he has eight goals and one assist.

While he still has a long way to go before being mentioned with Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, Mbappe has the potential to complete his career as one of the best players ever. He has already surpassed his idol, Ronaldo, by winning the World Cup.

Enzo Fernandez, on the other hand, has had a rocky start to his Chelsea career as the club struggles to find the rhythm. Since arriving, he has only scored one goal and contributed two assists in 31 games across all competitions.

After only their second win of the season, the Blues are currently 11th in the Premier League.
