Over a year after leaving Manchester United, David de Gea has reportedly received an offer from a new club.
After his contract expired on July 1st of last year, the Spaniard quit Manchester United. The club confirmed his departure a few days later.
It was surprising that the 33-year-old failed to sign with a club for the whole of the summer transfer season. And even though he can sign with a new team at any time due to his free agency, he is still single.
Will David De Gea join the Saudi Pro League?
The rumour mill hasn’t stopped despite this. Last summer, there were rumours that De Gea may join the Saudi Pro League, but those rumours were immediately dispelled.
In October, The Sun reported that talks were underway at United to bring him back to the team to fill in for Andre Onana while he was away at the Africa Cup of Nations. However, that was in vain, and In any event, Onana missed just one game.
Additionally, Real Betis showed interest in signing the goalie in April. There’s a new link up now, but it’s not the kind of club you might think.
Gianluca Di Marzio claims that De Gea has accepted an offer from the Serie A club Genoa and that the Spaniard has given the go-ahead for talks to begin.
However, it’s said that the Italian team is still debating whether to speak with De Gea or explore other options.
Under the direction of former AC Milan striker Alberto Gilardino, Genoa finished 11th in Serie A last season. Recently, Genoa transferred their starting goalkeeper, Josep Martinez, to Inter Milan for €15 million.
This indicates that they are looking for a new goalkeeper regularly, and De Gea would not cost anything in terms of a transfer price.
