The former striker for Manchester United has aimed at Erik ten Hag and demanded the return of six club icons to support the team.
Since his second departure from United in 2022, Cristiano Ronaldo has made no secret of his views against Ten Hag, the current United boss.
When Ronaldo—who was still playing for United at the time—participated in a tell-all interview with Piers Morgan and declared that he had “no respect” for the Dutchman, the strain in their relationship reached a breaking point.
Two years later, Ronaldo once again criticised Ten Hag and asked a number of the club’s greats to mentor the United manager.
Ronaldo questioned Ten Hag’s mindset during an interview with Rio Ferdinand’s Presents podcast. Ten Hag had recently stated that United is “a long way” away from winning the Premier League.
He did, however, commend United for its recent choice to reinstate club veteran Ruud van Nistelrooy as a member of the coaching staff, and he advised Ten Hag to consult with the former United striker.
“If Ten Hag listen to Ruud, maybe he can [help himself],” Ronaldo said.
The 39-year-old then went on to suggest that Ten Hag should consider bringing more club legends back to Old Trafford to help guide him.
“I think it can help a lot because he knows the club and the club should listen [to] the guys who were there.

‘You [Rio] or Roy Keane or Paul Scholes or Gary Neville, whatever, Sir Alex Ferguson. You cannot, you cannot rebuild a club without knowledge. Not guys who work in office. They understand.
“The people who understand the football, it was, 99 per cent is the people who were there in the dressing room. They know how to deal with the players. It’s the people who understand these things.
“So I believe that Ruud is going to help because he was inside the club. He knows the club. He knows the fans. If the coach listens to him, I think they can improve a little bit the club.”
