Colombia, one of the pre-tournament favourites, took a 2-1 win over Paraguay in their kick-off match of the 2024 Copa America campaign.
Los Cafeteros enters this tournament riding a 23-game winning streak. They most recently defeated Bolivia 3-0, and the Paraguayans prevailed 1-0 over Panama in their prior meeting.
After going more than two years without losing an international match, the Colombians will be bursting with confidence going into this competition.
Colombia has won six straight games when they have taken the lead and has not lost a single minute of any of their four games this year.
However, they have also performed well when down, winning the last three games despite giving up the first goal.
Although not much has gone wrong since Nestor Lorenzo assumed leadership, Colombian fans have witnessed a similar tale in the past. Their team notoriously failed in the 1994 World Cup, leaving the competition after the group stage, despite only losing one of their 33 pre-tournament games.
