Cole Palmer of Chelsea has made it clear which side of the intriguing discussion between Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo is the greatest player in football history. The debate is expected to last forever.
Despite being the top two players of the last 15 years and lighting up the pitch, both players are nearing the end of their playing careers.
After rising through Barcelona’s development program, Messi has won the Ballon d’Or eight times. He has won other awards throughout his tenure with the Catalan club and left a legacy that many consider him the best of all time.
In 778 appearances, he scored an astounding 672 goals for the Camp Nou team, earning 10 La Liga championships and four Champions Leagues.
After leaving Barcelona in 2021, the attacker played for Paris Saint-Germain for two seasons before joining Inter Miami in the MLS the previous summer.
Ronaldo, the other competitor, has won five Ballon d’Or during his playing career. He has played for Manchester United, Real Madrid, Juventus, Sporting CP, and Manchester United twice. Currently, he is a member of the Saudi Pro League team Al Nassr.
Throughout his tenure at Old Trafford and the Santiago Bernabeu, the 39-year-old has won league titles in England, Spain, and Italy in addition to five Champions League crowns.

Both players have won championships with their nations: Messi has won two Copa America titles and the World Cup, while Ronaldo has won the European Championships and the UEFA Nations League with Portugal.
Cole Palmer chooses Messi over Ronaldo
Football fans and players alike continue to disagree about which of these two players is the game’s real greatest of all time. Chelsea forward Palmer, who joined the Stamford Bridge team after leaving Manchester City, has now spoken his opinion on the matter.
As you can see above, Palmer went on a rampage with GOAL, naming Wayne Rooney as the greatest English player of all time, Messi as the guy he aspired to be as a child, Kylian Mbappe as the finest player in the world right now, and Kevin De Bruyne as the best player he has ever played alongside.
Palmer also selected Toni Kroos as the best passer, Neymar as the best dribbler, and CR7 as the greatest finisher in football history. He also selected himself as the person who would take a penalty if his life depended on it.
The eight players Palmer had selected were then put through a knockout round, and when it came down to a final decision between Messi and Ronaldo, the England player went for the Argentine.
