Robert Lewandowski may break Cristiano Ronaldo’s record this year
Robert Lewandowski is arguably the best player in the world at present. He is one of the top contenders to win the 2021 Ballon d’Or this year, not to mention he could have won his first in 2020.
So what record can the Polish international break this year? Well, you see, he is the first player to score 60 goals in a calendar year since Cristiano Ronaldo in 2014. I think I don’t need to tell you about that record, do I?
In 2013-14 season, Ronaldo scored 69 goals for both Real Madrid & Portugal. That was the time when football world witnessed the second highest goal scoring record ever achieved by a player in a calendar year.
This means that Lewa is just 10 goals away from breaking the Portuguese’ record. Let us remind you that he is still left with 10 games in 2021.
He could have won his first Ballon d’Or in 2020, but the ceremony was cancelled due to the worldwide impact of COVID-19.
Lionel Messi has however reportedly won his 7th Ballon d’Or, that he will be given on 29th November. This may sounds impossible for some football fans but this could be true.
