Bruno Fernandes scores his first Premier League hattrick for Manchester United
On Friday, Manchester United defeated Leeds United 5-1 on final score. Bruno Fernandes scored three goals while Paul Pogba assisted four times in the first match of the season.
Mason Greenwood and Fred were the other two goalscorers in the match. Ole Solskjaer’s side began their campaign with a stunning victory.
For the first time since March 2020 the Old Trafford was at full capacity. Rapahel Varane got a beautiful presentation before the starting whistle.
Man Utd totally dominated the game and Fernandes, who scored 18 league goals last season, continued his goalscoring form with three great finishes.
Talking about Pogba, he was just amazing for the whole 90 minutes. It looks like his confidence has boosted since his excellent performance in UEFA Euro 2020.
The only goal from Leeds was scored by Luke Ayling equalised early in the second half. Ole opened up his thoughts on the players and games.
“To be able to spread the goals across more forwards is going to be important for us,” Solskjaer said. “An attacking midfielder should not be the only player reaching 15 or 20 goals for us, no.
“Anthony will score more goals than he did last season, Mason (Greenwood) will develop, Edinson (Cavani) started late last season so will score more goals, Jadon will come in and chip in with goals so I feel confident that the burden is not just on Bruno to score.”
