La Liga has taken the final judgment regarding Dani Olmo’s Barcelona registration.
Olmo, for whom Barca paid £51 million to RB Leipzig last summer, was only granted a temporary exemption for the first half of the season because the team was unable to comply with La Liga’s wage ceiling regulations.
Last week, La Liga and the Spanish Federation reached a unified decision after a court denied their effort to re-register Olmo.
After lengthy discussions, La Liga and the Spanish Federation have REJECTED Olmo’s registration for Barca, according to Fabrizio Romano. For the rest of the season, he will therefore be unable to play for the Catalan giants.
This season, the 26-year-old has made 11 league appearances and netted five goals. But since he didn’t finish his La Liga registration, he won’t be adding to his total this season.
Barca will challenge the ruling in court, and if their appeal is successful, the attacking midfielder will be available for Hansi Flick this season. Pau Victor, Olmo’s teammate, has not been registered either.
Due to his registration problems, Olmo has been linked to a move away from Camp Nou, and Manchester United is reportedly monitoring his progress. However, Andy Bara, the player’s agent, has rejected all transfer interest.
Asked about recent links to Man United, he told Give Me Sport: “To be honest, I feel calm.
“It could feel strange but I believe in [Barcelona] president Laporta, Deco and I feel they will find a solution for Dani. It’s a massive club.
“We are not negotiating with any club. Dani is Barcelona player and he wants to be a Barcelona player. He has made a big effort in his life to be at Barcelona. It was his desire for a long time.
“Barcelona is the first and last option! Dani, his father, family, me, we’re not thinking about other options.”
