As the January transfer window approaches, Arsenal’s top three transfer targets have apparently been identified.
Mikel Arteta’s men are presently second in the Premier League table after another strong start to the season.
Arsenal can reclaim first place in the Premier League with a win over West Ham United on Thursday night, despite having played one fewer match than current leaders Liverpool.
It has been suggested that Arsenal may look to do business ahead of the January transfer window in order to add additional talent to their roster and maintain their assault for the Premier League title.
According to The Athletic, Arsenal’s first objective is to buy a defender, followed by a midfielder.
The Gunners are reportedly interested in Ajax’s 17-year-old defender Jorrel Hato, who has already been capped by the Netherlands following a succession of good performances.
Hato’s versatility allows him to play as both a left-sided centre-back and a left-back, making him an ideal replacement for the injured Jurrien Timber.
The North London club is thought to have a long-standing interest in Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi. However, according to the source, Zubimendi is highly dedicated to Sociedad and may be hesitant to leave the club during a Champions League campaign.
Arsenal are also interested in Wolverhampton Wanderers attacker Pedro Neto, in addition to Hato and Zubimendi.
The Portuguese winger is presently out with a hamstring injury, but Wolves manager Gary O’Neil has stated that the 23-year-old is on the verge of returning to play.
Neto is regarded as a straight backup to players such as Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka. Prior to his injury, the Wolves winger was in good form, with seven Premier League assists, tied for first with Mohamed Salah and Kieran Trippier.
