Haaland, 24, signed a five-year contract when he joined from Borussia Dortmund in July 2022, and his current contract was scheduled to expire in the summer of 2027.
David Ornstein of The Athletic reports that he has now agreed to a new nine-and-a-half-year contract with the Premier League winners. By the time his current contract expires and any release clauses from his previous agreement are eliminated, Haaland will be 34 years old.
Right now, it’s unclear how many people are involved. However, others consider it to be among the “most lucrative sporting contracts ever.”
According to Capology, Haaland’s current contract makes him the club’s second-highest earning at £375,000. Kevin De Bruyne, on the other hand, earns £400,000 a week, which puts him in first place. Furthermore, Haaland may surpass the Belgian as City’s top earner when his current contract expires in June of this year.
He might also become the highest-paid player in the Premier League as a result of this.
Naturally, the Norwegian attacker has scored 21 goals in 28 appearances across all competitions, with 16 of those goals coming in the league, even though Pep Guardiola’s team has been in bad form for the majority of the season.
The 24-year-old will undoubtedly support himself to set a new Premier League record for goals scored.
Alan Shearer, a former striker for Southampton, Blackburn, and Newcastle, now leads the division with 260 goals. Haaland has 79 goals in the Premier League and has won the Golden Boot title the past two seasons.
