Sebastian Vettel is concerned that his close friend Mick Schumacher will be unable to obtain a seat in Formula One next year due to a lack of available seats
With no viable options at other teams, the most plausible opening for the German would be to replace Logan Sargeant at Williams.
AlphaTauri and Alfa Romeo both have Liam Lawson and Theo Pourchaire waiting in the wings, keen to put their skills to the test following years in the juvenile divisions.
There are no open seats anywhere else, which means Schumacher may be obliged to join in another category of motorsport next season in order to maintain himself in racing fitness.
“The situation is difficult at the moment,” Vettel told Sky Germany. “There is perhaps still a single cockpit and at the moment it is not that easy or rather difficult to get in there and slide in.

“I think it’s important that things continue in a certain way for him next year, that he continues to work on the second chance.
“From a German perspective, it’s essential, it’s not just the biggest young talent, but perhaps even the only one at the moment.”
With Logan Sargeant underperforming, Williams will be ready to evaluate alternative contenders for a long-term position; however, it’s unclear whether Schumacher will be on their list.
If his F1 career has come to an end, a switch to another series such as DTM, IndyCar, or the World Endurance Championship might help put a position at the pinnacle of motorsport within reach for 2025.
